Special Event Programming for Christie’s

The Company of Adventurers has been used by Graham Henderson over a number of years as a vehicle for occasional arts consultancy work, mainly in connection with live events programmes, film-making and public art related projects. Some of the most interesting of these were the very successful live events he programmed for Christie’s the auction house, around some of their most prestigious book and manuscript sales.
For example, in 2016 he programmed a high-profile event at the Little Museum in Dublin to mark the sale of an original copy of the Irish independence Proclamation, produced on a hand operated press during the Easter Uprising in 1916. The event involved a leading Irish historian, the grandson of one of the signatories, and a folk singer performing Irish laments for a highly engaged capacity audience.

In 2017 Christie’s was auctioning a rare original score by J.S. Bach (BWV 1079) and Graham organised an event at the headquarters of Christie’s in King Street in Mayfair featuring the Feinstein Quartet and Jakob Lindberg, one of the world’s leading lutanists, who performed the piece for a capacity audience of around 150 people. The Bach event was also the subject of a promotional video made by the in-house media team, something which enjoyed an extended life on the Christie’s website.
This kind of special live event shows how imaginative and eclectic programming can amplify messages and attract additional PR to important corporate business. With 20 years of experience of organising live arts events and commissioning original arts content, Graham and the Company of Adventurers are well-placed to conceive and deliver such high-quality original arts content.
